Business Safety Week

The Rakem Group believes safety is at the heart of everything we do. As we observe Business Safety Week, we take this moment to emphasise the importance of fire safety in the workplace.

Business Safety Week serves as a vital opportunity for us, along with NFCC and Fire and Rescue Services, to raise awareness among small and medium-sized businesses about their fire safety responsibilities. We understand that creating a secure and protected working environment is crucial for the well-being of our employees and the continuity of our operations. With safety as our priority, we actively provide our teams with comprehensive fire safety training and ensure that they are equipped to handle any emergency situation. We believe that preparedness is the key to preventing and mitigating risks.

Not only during Business Safety Week, but we want all our employees to know that support and advice are available to them throughout the year. We are committed to fostering a culture of safety, where every team member feels confident in promoting a secure workplace.

As we commemorate Business Safety Week, let’s continue to prioritise safety, champion a proactive approach to fire prevention, and create a work environment where everyone feels safe and protected. Together, we build a stronger, safer workplace for all.

Charity lunch • June ’23

Thank you to all who attended June’s Charity Lunch! It was another successful day of giving back, and we are thrilled to share the charities and causes we supported this month!

Firstly, we donated to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust once again. As the leading cancer centre for the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network, The Christie plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care and ground breaking research for cancer patients. Our contribution will help advance their mission and make a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals and families.

Next, we extended our support to Red Door, who secure safe accommodation with the support they need to make a new home and that no one has to sleep rough. Red Door offers essential services which meet immediate basic needs, promote mental health and wellbeing, enable people to access health and other support services and to take up education, training, volunteering opportunities and employment, as a means of sustaining positive housing outcomes. By donating to Red Door, we are proud to contribute to creating a safer and more compassionate community.

Furthermore, we proudly supported the The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals. This incredible organisation supports retired dogs and horses from the police, fire, prison and border force services by helping with medical and veterinary bills, which inevitably occur as they get older. We are proud to help support the NFRSA is there to help to ensure these wonderful animals can stay where they belong, with the families they love, as the years advance. It’s the least they deserve when they’ve devoted most of their lives to keeping us, the public, safe!

We are already excited for July’s Charity Month!

Wellness Day

Activities promoting health and well-being are our work culture. So, we recently hosted a Wellness Day for our employees.

What did we get up to on our Wellness Day?

Eye screenings
Eye screenings were performed because regular eye screenings are important for detecting any eye health issues early. Early detection can lead to early treatment, which can prevent further damage or vision loss. This can be especially important for those who spend a lot of time looking at computer screens or other digital devices, as this can cause eye strain and other vision-related problems.

Managing finances
Managing finances can be stressful, and financial stress can impact mental health and overall well-being, so we held a money talk to educate employees about smart financial management practices, including budgeting, saving, and investing. By providing our team with the tools they need to manage their finances, we hope to alleviate some of the financial stress that can impact their overall well-being.

Nutrition session
Eating a balanced and healthy diet is crucial for overall health and well-being, which is why we had a nutritionist explain to employees about healthy eating habits and provided tips on how to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious foods into their diets. By encouraging healthy eating habits, we hope to improve overall health and reduce the risk of diet-related health issues.

Stress Talk
Stress is a common issue in the workplace and can negatively impact overall well-being. Our stress talks provided employees with coping mechanisms for managing stress, such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. By providing our team with tools to manage stress, we hope to reduce stress levels and promote better mental health and well-being.

Massage Session
Massages are a great way to relax and relieve tension and pain in the body. By offering massages to our employees, we hoped to provide a little bit of relaxation and pampering, as well as alleviate any pain or discomfort they may have been experiencing.

The Rakem Group believe that investing in our employee’s health and well-being is crucial for their success and happiness both in and out of the workplace. We look forward to continuing to provide our team with the resources they need to lead happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives!

Thank you to Adel Houten Go Live Well and Karim Samani (Multi-award winning Chair-Man) for helping us put this brilliant day together!
