ORGAL® M 420 is an APEO-free, acid-containing crosslinked acrylic polymer. When diluted with water and neutralized with a base, the polymer swells significantly, forming a highly viscous solution. Neutralized solutions of ORGAL® M 420 are stable and effective in suspending pigments, abrasives, and fine particle solids without flocculating action. It is suitable for use in latex emulsions, coatings, and other suspension systems.

ORGAL® M 420 forms highly viscous solutions upon neutralization and provides excellent suspension capabilities for pigments, abrasives, and fillers in water-based systems. The product does not flocculate dispersions and is suitable for use in coatings, paints, inks, and waxes. For in situ thickening, ORGAL® M 420 can be added directly to stable lattices or emulsions without prior neutralization. The final pH should exceed 7.5 for optimal performance.
It is compatible with various inorganic and organic bases, such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and ethanolamine. The product is resistant to mechanical shear but should not be heated in strongly alkaline conditions (pH ≥ 10) to avoid property changes.
To ensure safe storage, containers should be well sealed to prevent water evaporation and skin formation. The emulsion must be stored between 5-25°C for a maximum of 12 months. Freezing must be avoided.
