BRB Siloen® TA 394

BRB Siloen® TA 394 is a solvent-based, high molecular weight polydimethylsiloxane formulation designed as a hammertone finish additive.

BRB Siloen® TA 394 provides a hammertone finish effect to paints and coatings.

• Gives a pleasant decorative appearance to poorly finished metal surfaces.
• Used in solvent-based binder systems based on alkyd resins or their combinations.
• Effective with polyurethane binders (especially thixotropic bases).
• Suitable for silicone binders.
• Can be incorporated into some water-based systems.

• The incompatibility of BRB Siloen® TA 394 with the coating causes floating of the actives on the surface.
• Allows pigments (preferably aluminum) to orientate in the created surface texture.
• The finished surface can usually be coated again without surface preparation.

BRB Siloen® TA 394 is soluble in xylene, toluene, butanol, isobutanol, mineral spirits, or ketones. It must be added after pigment incorporation and grinding, during the letdown stage.

Dosage: 0.05% to 0.8%, depending on the type of binder and the desired effect. The appearance of the hammertone finish also depends on suitable pigmentation.
