LITHKEM

Lithkem is a cost effective, setting accelerator designed to increase the hydration of calcium aluminate cement, providing reduced early setting times and increased early flexural and compressive strengths.

Lithkem increases the formation of calcium aluminate hydrates in [CAC/OPC] binder systems and increases the formation of ettringite in [CAC/OPC/CS] binder systems.

Lithkem is formulated for use in fast setting mortars based on calcium aluminate cement such as self-levelling underlayments (SLU), rapid repair mortars and fast-setting tile adhesives / grouts. Lithkem is effective in CAC-rich systems.

Dosage rate is dependent on mix design, binder content, ambient temperatures and the formulation aim for open / set times etc. Natural variations
found in hydraulic binders will also affect the required dose. Trials should be undertaken out to determine the optimum dosage levels.

As an initial guide, an addition level of

• 0-1 – 0.5% by weight of formulation is recommended (as a starting point)
