Hydropel is a specialist powder-based admixture designed to provide hydrophobic and efflorescence-reducing properties in a wide range of render, grout, and mortar applications.
Hydropel is a specially formulated hydrophobic admixture that creates permanent pore-blocking properties, resulting in reduced water absorption in hardened renders, grouts, and mortars. Hydropel reduces the potential for efflorescence and improves the long-term performance properties of the finished product, including durability, strength, and reduced risk of delamination.
Hydropel has been designed to provide enhanced integral hydrophobic properties in a range of applications, including:
Hydropel can be used on its own or together with Cemkem’s complete mortar admixture range (e.g., Hydrokem and Airkem).
The use of Hydropel results in achieving a grout class of CG2W according to BSEN 13888 – Table 7 and a grout class of W2 according to BSEN 998-1 Table 1.
The following graphs (not included in the HTML) show the performance of Hydropel when tested in grout and render formulations. All tests were carried out under standard laboratory conditions in accordance with BSEN 12808-5 and BSEN 1015-18.
The dosage rate will depend on the mix design, mixing processes, and raw materials. For typical mortar applications:
The optimum dose should be determined by completing appropriate trials for specific site requirements.
Hydropel should be stored in cool, dry conditions and protected from excessive heat. If stored correctly in its original packaging, the product has a minimum shelf life of 24 months.
