BRB Silanil® 533 ESO

BRB Silanil® 533 ESO is a silane oligomer containing gamma-glycidoxy and methoxy groups. Compared to monomeric epoxy silanes, it releases less methyl alcohol upon hydrolysis due to partial condensation of methoxy groups. The oligomeric structure offers lower VOC emissions and better stability in water-based systems.

• Greater grafting efficiency with polymers containing amino, hydroxyl, or carboxyl groups

Coupling Agent for Metallic Pigment Coatings: BRB Silanil® 533 ESO improves dispersion of metallic fillers in water-based systems. The silane solution (10-20% concentration in water or a water-solvent mixture, pH 4-5) is mixed with metallic fillers at medium shear. Recommended silane dosage is 0.2-2% based on metallic filler weight.

Crosslinker for Polymer Modification: Used in water-based resins like acrylic latexes, BRB Silanil® 533 ESO is added at 0.2-2% based on resin solids. A 24-hour induction time is recommended prior to adding other additives, fillers, or pigments.

Adhesion Promoter in Coatings and Adhesives: BRB Silanil® 533 ESO enhances adhesion on inorganic surfaces and can be added to water-based or solvent-based resins. Induction time is required, especially for water-based resins with a neutral pH to control hydrolysis during storage.
