Crosslinker for Polyethylene
BRB Silanil® 276 is used for silane crosslinking to create a three-dimensional macromolecule structure in thermoplastic polyethylene. This process improves creep resistance, solvent resistance, and mechanical properties of crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE or PEX).
- Recommended dosage: 2-3% based on polyethylene weight
- Initiator: Di-Cumyl Peroxide
- Catalyst: Dibutyltindilaurate (DBTDL)
- Recommended twin screw length/diameter: 24-35 L/D ratio
Polymer Modification
BRB Silanil® 276 modifies polymer structures in both waterborne and solvent-borne surface coating resins. It is commonly used in acrylic latex and introduced during polymerization steps.
- Solvent-borne: Recommended dosage 0.4-10.0% on total monomer weight
- Waterborne: Recommended dosage 0.1-2.0% on total monomer weight
- Add silane during the pre-emulsion stage or at the final 10-15% of monomer feeding time
- Recommended pH for waterborne systems: ≤8.5 for stability
