BRB SILOEN®SR 403

BRB Siloen® SR 403 is a non-ionic, APEO-free, solventless, water-thinnable, 60% active aqueous emulsion containing a reactive silicone oil.

• Enhanced beading and hydrophobing effect when used in conjunction with a silicone resin emulsion in masonry paints
• Brings high water vapor permeability, increased UV resistance, and matte finish to coatings
• Improves processability and anti-blocking characteristics in paints

In masonry paints, 0.5% to 5% (typically 1% to 2%) BRB Siloen® SR 403 is added to a formulation combining a silicone resin emulsion and an acrylic-based binder. BRB Siloen® SR 403 is suitable for silicone resin paints, silicate emulsion paints, highly filled emulsion coatings, whitewash emulsions, and interior paints.

BRB Siloen® SR 403 can also be thinned to 2-5% solids in conjunction with an acrylic emulsion to be used as a water-repellent façade primer.

In cement-based mortars, BRB Siloen® SR 403 is used as an admixture between 0.25% to 1% by weight (0.15% to 0.6% actives), based on the dry weight of the mixture. Preferably dilute with water before addition. BRB Siloen® SR 403 will react with aggregates or cement hydrates upon drying; it is mostly suitable for silicone resin plasters, silicate plasters, stoppers, and reinforcing stoppers.

BRB Siloen® SR 403 can be used as such or be thinned with water before use. For prolonged storage of the dilution, deionized water is recommended, and additional preservative may be required.
